OUR FABRICS
What are our Organic Fabrics?
Organic textiles are grown in controlled settings with no pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals. Only natural fertilizers are used and the soil and water are monitored. If a fiber is certified organic its growing conditions have been monitored and certified by an agency from one of the several organic trade associations worldwide
At TVAAG, we use primarily GOTS-Certified Cotton, and Organic Bamboo in our fabrics
GOTS-Certified Cotton
Traditional Cotton cultivation also requires high rates of chemical herbicide and pesticide application. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. GOTS is a textile production certification that limits the use of toxic bleaches, dyes and other chemical inputs during the production process of textiles.
Our GOTS-Certified Cotton has a host of benefits as opposed to the Synthetic Fabrics, the most important of which is mentioned below
(i) Moisture Control - Cotton fabric is breathable and transmits moisture away from the body and is absorbent and removes liquid from the skin, like a towel, according to Cotton Incorporated
(ii) Insulation - Cotton clothing protects against from heat in the summer and cold in the winter by providing thermal insulation as the cotton fabric traps air between the fabric fibers
(iii) Hypoallergenic - Cotton fabric being hypoallergenic and does not irritate skin, it is used in medical products like bandages and gauze, and is the fabric of choice when it comes to baby clothing.
(iv) Weatherproof - Cotton fabrics can easily be manufactured into weather-resistant garments through construction and finishing of the fabric
(v) Comfort - Cotton clothing is soft and easily stretches, making it a comfortable fabric to wear
(vi) Durability - Cotton has a high tensile strength, making it strong, durable and less likely to rip or tear
Organic Bamboo
Historically in Asia, bamboo was used for the hand-made production of paper. But thanks to modern manufacturing, bamboo pulp is now capable of creating bamboo fiber which can be used to make yarn and fabric. Bamboo fabric is a natural textile made from the pulp of the bamboo grass, the bamboo fiber is then made by pulping the bamboo grass until it separates into thin threads of fiber, which is then spun and dyed for weaving into cloth.
The following benefits of Bamboo Fiber make it an ideal 'Workout Fabric'
(i) Antibacterial & Antifungal - Bamboo possesses an anti-bacteria and bacteriostatic bio-agent called "Bamboo Kun", allowing it to naturally flourish and grow in the wild without the use of pesticides or fertilizers
(ii) Highly Sweat Absorbent - Bamboo has incredible moisture wicking capabilities due to micro-gaps in its finer, being able to keep feet dry even if there is excess sweat
(iii) Soft & Lustrous - This luxurious fabric is soft because of the way the plant fibers are turned into usable material through our special soaking process
(iv) Naturally UV Protectant - Bamboo fabric is also "Anti-static and UV Protective as it cuts out 98% of harmful UV rays" providing the wearer with another beneficial quality from bamboo made clothing
(v) Hypoallergenic - Bamboo fabrics are naturally hypoallergenic and perfect for those who experience allergic reactions to most other synthetic fibers
(vi) Breathable - The Bamboo fabric is able to keep the wearer almost two degrees cooler in the heat and noticeably warmer in the cold
